Strategic Communications Counsel
Tim is a communications strategist with expertise in media and public relations, crisis communications, issues management and employee communications. After parlaying a brief journalism career into a communications role with JCPenney, he spent 26 years helping craft and tell the stories behind the retailer’s many transformations — from malls to off-mall, catalogs to e-commerce to omnichannel, entering and exiting new businesses, boom to bust and back again. He’s worn many hats as a communicator, most recently directing JCPenney’s Internal Communications team. As the primary public relations counsel for all the retailer’s stores for several years — along with the supply chain, product development and social responsibility areas — Tim honed his skills in developing effective grassroots media strategies and responding to challenging issues. He holds a journalism degree from Baylor University, and he and his wife, Teresa, live in Richardson, where they raised their two daughters. As a student of retail for the past quarter century, Tim remains excited about the myriad ways in which technology continues to reshape the industry.
